The buck stops here! North Carolina's public schools are already stretched to the limit. Every new dollar in corporate tax cuts or private school vouchers is a dollar taken from students who desperately need smaller class sizes, updated technology, safe school buildings, and well-paid educators who can afford to stay in the profession. If we keep cutting taxes for those at the top, our students will never have the opportunities they deserve to reach their full potential.
Tell the NCGA to Put Our Kids Over CorporationsOur children and public schools desperately need a real investment. Giving money to corporations and funding private schools cannot allow real investment in funding teachers, classrooms and the support every child needs to thrive.
Tax cuts can’t teach a child to read. Every dollar we give away in new tax cuts to the wealthy and big corporations is a dollar taken from North Carolina’s classrooms. Private school vouchers are just another giveaway to wealthy families.
Quality public education has an impact on all of our lives and our strength lies in our unity. We must end the ban on collective bargaining so that together—teachers, school staff, parents, and community members—we can defend and strengthen the schools our students depend on.

North Carolina's public schools are at a breaking point. While politicians hand out billions in tax cuts to the wealthy and big corporations, our classrooms are being denied the resources students and educators need. We rank at the bottom in teacher pay and school funding, and one in five teachers has left the profession in just the past two years. Every new corporate giveaway is a dollar taken from students who need smaller classes, updated materials, and teachers who can afford to stay. It's time to put kids over corporations and invest in the educators and public schools that make our communities strong.
In the 2026 legislative short session we demand:

The North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE) is bringing our communities together through Schoolhouse Voices—a training series designed to help us learn how to advocate effectively, build partnerships, and take meaningful action for our students.
These gatherings are simple, informal events where you invite people you already know—family, friends, coworkers, faith communities, fraternity brothers, or sorority sisters—to talk about what's happening in our public schools and what it will take for every student, no matter their ZIP code, to thrive.
Even if you don't want to host a party, you can still be a part of the party. This will be a space that will give Guests an opportunity to share stories and experiences that reveal what's working, and what's not in public education.
Sign up for our newsletter to stay connected with you to share all the latest updates as we move in the right direction for public education.

Our strength lies in our unity. Together—teachers, school staff, parents, and community members—we can defend and strengthen the schools our kids' futures depend on.
Kids Over Corporations is a project of the North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE). NCAE is North Carolina's leading voice for educational excellence, for children and their families, and for the public schools they count on. As the public school employees union and the largest association of professional educators in North Carolina, our membership extends to all 100 counties and includes teachers, non-classified school staff, administrators, students, retirees, and community allies. NCAE believes that every child has a right to a high-quality education, an excellent teacher, and a well-funded school.
